END GOALS & MEAN GOALS

 Good MORNING,

" Badi siddat se tumhe panne ki koshish ki he, ki har jarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki sazzish ki hai"

remember these lines - shah rukh khan's @om shanti om.

Generally goals can be divided into 2 types- means goal & end goals.

END GOALS- they are those which you really want in life, they are usually feelings. To be happy, to be successful, to feel compassion, kindness, luxury is also a feeling, security, warmth of family and friends, adventure ,even if your end goal is to remain drunk, Drunk too is a feeling.

MEANS GOALS -  they are those which are stepping stones on which you step onto to finally get your end goals. Like a diploma, degree , a big business deal, a good job , huge amount of money, they are all means goals.

It get confusing & people usually end up making their means goal  as their end goal.

NOW , HOW WILL YOU IDENTIFY MEANS GOALS?

Mean goal usually have a "SO" with them. That means, Mean goals do not stand alone, they are part of a sequence, for example- getting a good college degree, so that you get a good job, so that you can make lots of money, so that you can afford a nice house, nice car, so that you will have money saved to do all the stuff that you really want to do.

BUT ISS ROTI, KAPDA AUR MAKAN ke chakar me, sab reh jata he.

People get so obsessed about fulfilling their responsibilities towards their family, kids ,etc that their end goals are never realized.

What you really want is - beautiful relationships, consistent opportunities to learn & grow, to have freedom.

so, now you see that end goals are in reality feelings.

Focus on the feelings that you really want in life, like the fulfillment & joy of helping others, if this is the end goal of yours than find out the mean goals, these are the ways how you will reach the end goals.

Ask yourself- if these the best way to achieve these objectives.

can i  achieve them in a more effective way?

Now i started with goals because here too you have a goal to look forward to - the means goal of learning about the art of soft skills, personality development & communication skills.

  • It is important to set both short-term and long-term goals. Short-term goals can help us make progress towards our long-term goals, and achieving them can give us a sense of accomplishment and motivation to continue working towards our long-term goals.

  • It is also helpful to make our goals specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. This acronym, SMART, is often used to help guide goal setting. Specific goals are clear and specific, measurable goals can be quantified, achievable goals are realistic, relevant goals are important to us and aligned with our values, and time-bound goals have a specific deadline.

  • It can be helpful to write down our goals and review them regularly. Seeing our goals in writing can help us stay focused and motivated, and reviewing them periodically can help us track our progress and make adjustments as needed.

  • It is also important to be flexible and open to adjusting our goals as circumstances change. Life is unpredictable, and it is okay to reassess and make changes to our goals as needed.

  • Finally, it can be helpful to have a support system in place to help us stay accountable and motivated as we work towards our goals. This could include friends, family, or a coach or mentor.
